Dear Ami,
It’s no secret that we sometimes try to peek into the future just to catch a glimpse of the things it has in store for us, but then our finite minds limit us because we are but mortal beings. However, the future opens up to us in bits and pieces with every passing day. And you know what? We can only see these pieces and puzzle them together by being mindful while living in the present because the present is the future busy unfolding.
.
My advice to you is: don’t get so hung up on where you’d rather be, that you forget to make the most of where you are, because the map to where you’d rather start from where you are. Be aware.

Nurture
Dear Ami,
Holla! It feels good to hear from you after a long time. At least now I know why you’ve been MIA because I couldn’t get my head around why you weren’t returning my calls or emails. I’m truly happy for you. Well, to answer your question being in a relationship means being able to relate: connect, understand and communicate from a ground of mutual respect(because to touch the soul of another human being as Stephen Covey said, is to work on holy ground.) As much as you’re a holy ground, so is the other person. Don’t walk on that ground with dirt such as insecurity, egotism, lies, and self-centeredness. They don’t deserve it. They entrusted their heart to you, don’t trample on it—treasure and nurture it. Keep it safe and fulfil their trust.

Tosan Orits.
Call To Chill
Dear Ami,
There’s such a thing as ‘advancement shock’ and another as a ‘call to chill’. Advancement shock is why we don’t instantly experience happiness after a positive life-changing event. The reason for this according to Brianna Weist has to do with how we are wired psychologically; anything that is new, even if it is good, will feel uncomfortable until it is also familiar. For instance, you got the job you’ve been seeking, which is a good thing, but your mind shifts to factors that could cut short your advancement; new responsibility, if you’d be able to deliver on it, and even the possibility of you losing the job.
.
A ‘call to chill’ on the other hand has ‘nothing’ to do with achievement, but the process leading to it; which is maintaining peace and keeping perspective. We often experience a call to chill from within our inner self while pushing hard towards actualizing our dreams again, and again to no avail. But some of us would immediately relate these calls to chill as barriers trying to hold us back from pushing. Whereas, it’s simply calling us to relax, take a step back, re-evaluate and avoid being overly obsessed with actualizing those dreams thereby losing ourselves in the process. Do you grab it?

La Joya.
